Omladinska Organizacija Svitac (Firefly Youth Organization) was founded in Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1996, just after the end of the Bosnian war, by a British aid worker, Ellie Maxwell. Svitac is a multi-ethnic youth arts organization based in Brčko District, in the northeast region of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Since 1998 we have worked in Brčko applying creative arts and education activities to encourage reconciliation within the community, following the devastating mid-1990s Bosnian war that the land has yet to fully recover from. We do this all while strengthening the local youth’s connections to the rest of the world, and supporting them in their personal growth by letting them indulge in their creativity.
