Općina Banovići

Općina Banovići is located in Banovići, Bosnia and Herzegovina on Alije Dostovića 1. Općina Banovići is rated 5 out of 5 in the category government administration in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Municipality Banovici is a mining area in northeastern Bosnia. It covers an area of 183 km2 and currently has a population of 28,000. The town of Banovići is located on the northwestern slopes of Mount Konjuh, on the main road connecting the two major industrial centers Tuzla and Zenica, respectively the two large cantons Tuzlanski and Zeničko-Dobojski. Banovići borders with the municipalities of Lukavac, Živinice, Kladanj, Olovo and Zavidovici. The town is 36 km from Tuzla and 110 km from Sarajevo. From Banovići, the railway runs in the direction of Brčko, and is thus connected to the BiH rail network. The economy of the Banovići region is based on coal mining.
